The Junior Statesmen Foundation and Junior State of America Web Site Terms of Use and Privacy Policy

Information collected

The Junior Statesmen Foundation collects information that is voluntarily submitted by its web site visitors, requesting additional information through on-line forms, purchasing publications, videos, participation in events or merchandise offered on-line. This information is only used to respond to the visitor’s request. Some of the programs offered by the Foundation include visits to federal buildings or meetings with federal government officials. As such, participants in these programs must supply a social security number or passport number which the Foundation forwards to federal authorities for security purposes.

In addition, the Foundation’s web server tracks the IP address (for example,, domain name (for example, and type of browser (e.g., Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer, etc.) of our visitors. This information is aggregated for statistical purposes only. At no time can we identify any visitor based on this data.

At the request of a web visitor, The Junior Statesmen Foundation’s web server will issue cookies to “remember” a visitor. The visitor must click on a box that says “Remember me” (an “opt-in”) for this service to occur. Otherwise, the web server will not leave a cookie on the visitor’s machine when the session is concluded.

The Junior Statesmen Foundation does not warrant that other web sites to which it provides hyperlinks do not utilize cookies for their own purposes.

Information use and confidentiality

Information gathered at the Junior Statesmen Foundation/Junior State of America (JSF/JSA) web site is collected solely for the internal use by the Junior Statesmen Foundation and the Junior State of America.

Additionally, the information we collect is used to personalize your web site experience, to improve our web site, to improve our service to you, to process transactions with you and to send periodic e-mails.

None of your information will be marketed, sold, shared or otherwise distributed to any outside party or parties, except for trusted third parties who assist us in the operation of our business (who also agree to keep your information confidential).

We may release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies or protect ours or others rights, property or safety.

Data security and access

The Junior Statesmen Foundation takes every precaution to protect visitor information collected. The web site itself is behind a firewall and physically housed in a co-location facility which has ample physical security. Junior Statesmen Foundation staff members, elected JSA officers,  and trusted third parties who assist us in the operation of our business are the only individuals who have access to the data stored in our systems. This access is assigned to individuals, and all changes to data are logged.

Visitors to the Junior Statesmen Foundation web site have complete control over their personally identifiable information (name, address, telephone, e-mail address, etc.) The Foundation encourages visitors to update their personal information as frequently as is needed.

Individuals who attend a program offered by the Foundation or by the Junior State of America may have their personally identifiable information entered into our systems by a third party. Upon authentication to Foundation staff, individuals so entered will be assigned login credentials to access and change their personally identifiable information.


Visitors to the Junior Statesmen Foundation web site are not required to provide personally identifiable information. The visitor must “opt-in” by creating an account, requesting additional information or ordering on-line. The visitor may choose not to provide certain personal information. However, the Junior Statesmen Foundation may not be able to respond to the visitor’s request if the information provided is not sufficient.

Use by children

The Junior Statesmen Foundation will not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from a child under the age of 13 without proper consent. Our web site, products and services are all directed at people who are at least 13 years old or older. In the event that Junior Statesmen Foundation learns that personal information has been collected from a child under the age of 13 without verification of parental or guardian consent, it will delete that information from its database as quickly as possible.
